Dr. Themistocles Protopsaltis is Director of Adult Spinal Deformity Surgery and an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center. He has served as Director of the Bellevue Orthopaedic Spine Service.

Dr. Peter G. Passias completed an accelerated masters and medical doctorate program with a sub-focus on mechanical engineering, followed by residency at Tufts University, Boston. Following completion of his residency, he performed additional training at the Harvard Combined Fellowship with a focus on adult spinal deformity, primary osseous tumors of the spine, and traumatic injuries to the spine.

Dr. Paul Park is presently at the Semmes-Murphey Clinic in Memphis and is a Professor of Neurosurgery as well as the Director of Spinal Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Dr. David O Okonkwo is Professor of Neurological Surgery and Director of the Scoliosis and Spinal Deformity Program at UPMC, Pittsburg. He is also Team Neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers Football Club. Dr. Okonkwo completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Virginia and a fellowship at Auckland Public Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand.

Dr. Pierce Nunley is the Director at the Spine Institute of Louisiana and an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. After finishing his medical degree at the University of Kansas Medical College and orthopedic residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, Dr. Nunley completed spine fellowships at the University of Basel in Switzerland and at the Dallas Spine Group.

Dr. Gregory Mundis grew up in Vienna, Austria, the son of a missionary family, which fuels his passion for international medicine. After his medical education and training he sub-specialized in the treatment of spinal deformities in children and adults. He performs complex reconstructive spine surgery in San Diego, where he currently resides, and also internationally.

Dr. Praveen Mummaneni is the Joan O'Reilly Distinguished Professor in Spinal Surgery at UCSF, San Francisco. He serves as co-director of the UCSF Spine Center and vice chair of the UCSF neurosurgery department. He is also the Lead Surgeon for Perioperative Services at the main UCSF Parnassus campus and director of the MIS and Complex Spine fellowship.

Jeffrey P. Mullin, MD, MBA is an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at University at Buffalo, New York. He is also the Co-Director of the University at Buffalo Neurosurgery Complex Spine Fellowship and the Assistant Program Director of the Neurosurgery residence program.

Vivian Le earned her Bachelor of Science degree in human biology from the University of California, San Diego and her master’s in public health from the University of San Francisco. She is the Clinical Research Manager of the Department of Neurosurgery at Columbia University and the lead coordinator of the Minimally Invasive Surgery group of the ISSG.

Hailing from France, Dr. Renaud Lafage holds two master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from The “Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA)”, Toulouse. He completed internships at Institut Clément Ader, Cinetic Machining, and NYU Hospital for Joint Disease developing a passion for spinal biomechanics and the role of engineering in research and innovations around spine care.

Dr. Lawrence Lenke, Co-Director of Och Spine, surgeon-in-chief at the Och Spine Hospital, and chief of spinal deformity surgery in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

I joined the team at Duke University Health in 2022 from London, UK, where I was a Consultant Adult and Paediatric Spine Surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust and Honorary Consultant Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. I completed my surgical training in in the South West of the UK and at the University of Toronto, and am fellowship trained in adult spine surgery, paediatric spine surgery, orthopaedic trauma surgery, research and healthcare management.

Dr. Javidan's interest in spinal deformity surgery started in residency at University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine. He gained a tremendous volume of experience in spinal deformity surgery at UC Davis Spine Fellowship. He currently practices at UC Davis and Shriners Hospital of Northern California.

Ricardo B.V. Fontes, MD, PhD, received his medical degree in his home country at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. This is where he also went on to complete a residency in neurosurgery. Fontes then completed both a neurosurgery residency and spine neurosurgery fellowship at RUSH University Medical Center before joining the department as an assistant professor in neurosurgery in 2015.

Richard G. Fessler, MD, PhD, received his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago. At University of Chicago, Fessler completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in neurosurgery, as well as postdoctoral research fellowships in neurological surgery and psychiatry. Fessler is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery.

I grew up and went to high school in central Connecticut before attending Vanderbilt University for my undergraduate studies. There, I developed an interest in neurosurgery as well as clinical and translational imaging research. I subsequently matriculated at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, earning my M.D. degree with distinction in research and clinical care.

Dr. Joshua Bunch completed a fellowship at Norton Leatherman Spine Center. He earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Bunch's goal is to provide timely, patient-centered care for adult and pediatric patients.

Brandon Carlson, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon based in Kansas City, KS. He completed his medical education at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2012, followed by a residency in orthopaedic surgery and a fellowship in spine surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery/Cornell Medical Center.

Sang Hun Lee, M.D., Ph.D, is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon with expertise in complex cervical spine (neck) and spine tumor surgery. Dr. Lee specializes in the latest orthopaedic and neurosurgical techniques in cervical spine degenerative disc disease, cervical spine minimally invasive procedures, cervical spine deformities, cervical spinal reconstruction, and management of spinal tumors (primary and metastatic spine tumors).
