Jenny De Jong, MSN, RN, CCRC, is a Project Manager on the administrative team for the ISSG. Prior to her work with the ISSG, De Jong had a career in nursing, with several years of inpatient nursing experience in Ohio and California. After that, she began working alongside Dr. Christopher Shaffrey and Dr. Justin Smith at the University of Virginia, as a clinical research coordinator, focused mainly on spine research.

Alan H. Daniels, MD

Dr. Alan H. Daniels is a Board-Certified spine surgeon who specializes in adult spinal deformity and other complex spinal disorders. He serves as Chief of Spine for the Orthopedic Department at Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital. He is also Spine Fellowship Co-Director and Associate Professor at Brown University.

Thomas J. Buell, MD

Thomas J. Buell, MD, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery. He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. After graduation, he worked as an electrical engineer before attending Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his neurological surgery residency at the University of Virginia and a spine fellowship at Duke University.

Christine (Chris) Baldus, RN MSN

Chris Baldus, RN MSN, is a Project Manager working with sites and investigators participating in ISSG Clinical Research Trials. Previously she managed a Clinical Trials unit focused on pharmaceutical management of osteoporosis at Washington University, St. Louis. She has almost 40 years’ experience spinal deformity care and management with the past 20 years in spinal deformity clinical research, including her role as Project Manager for the Adult Symptomatic Lumbar Scoliosis (ASLS) NIH RO1 trail. She has published three articles in peer reviewed journals and has co-authored approximately 40 additional articles.
